Look at it this way, though: Amazon still doesn't have a truly waterproof Kindle, so the wait could be worth it to get an e-reader that can survive a drop in the tub. You'll have to be slightly patient, as the Aura H2O launches in North America, the UK and several other markets on May 22nd. The 8GB of storage is enough to hold about 6,000 books, and you'll have Kobo staples like awards, stats and fine-grained control over fonts. You won't find much of a revolution inside, but that's not entirely a bad thing. Its 6.8-inch touchscreen is decidedly easier to hold during longer siestas, while the $180 price (£150 in the UK) might simplify your purchasing decision. Shop Amazon for Kobo Aura - eBook reader - 4 GB - 6'(N236-KU-BK-K-EP). Its big 7.8-inch screen didn't make it the most portable device around, and that $229 price could be off-putting if you just wanted to read a novel now and then. Generally people love it, but even for some of those who do-they jumped through quite a few hoops to settle on something that worked for them.Kobo's Aura One e-reader was potentially the dream device for anyone who likes to read in the bath or at the beach, but it had some catches. That's what I get when I read up on the KA1. I'm not saying every review or experience was positive but there wasn't the same preponderance of complaints about one or two weak areas. Prices Reviews User reviews Specs Discussions Video Size 6. I can't or don't remember reading as many complaints about the NST or Paperwhite when I was doing pre-purchase research. I understand the nature of the beast and I obviously do not have any hard data to back it up, but reading here and elsewhere, complaints about the KA1's lighting and screen issues seem to be more than just unusual or uncommon. I do remember one gentleman who was complaining that Amazon only exchanged his Kindle Paperwhite 5 times before they said "no more" in his attempt to get a device with no blotches or pinholes. You seldom see posts such as "I am very happy with my xxxxx which came with a perfect display and has always worked perfectly!". Sadly, those who have good experiences are not, for the most part, those who post about their experiences. The comfort light isn't totally even in color, but it's more of a slight gradation, it's not blotchy or bothersome. I kept it, grew to like the color and it's still working great. Kobo è stata la prima azienda ad usare 4 GB di memoria interna (a volte su scheda microSD. So relax, fill the tub, or hit the beach and start reading. If it helps, when I bought my Aura HD back in 2013, got one with a beautiful screen, but the front light had a bad flickering problem. I really hope I can try getting a decent one this next try. I would tell myself to suck it up and get over it but I paid ~279$ CAD (and I'm a student so I really want an OK product for the price). Just a shame about the comfort light option. Both units I had- excellent regular lighting overall. I really like the feel of it and the way it looks. Which sucks because a) I feel bad opening and using the Kobo for like 5 minutes, but then returning it with the box untaped (wonder if they can still sell these), especially doing this 3 times. If the third one is gonna be like this too then I'm returning it for good and maybe waiting until things clear up. Now I have to exchange it again because of the green blotch. Unlike the first unit, it's totally evenly distributed apart from the one crap LED. Just that one single LED, if it wasn't for that one then it'd be perfect. Now I have a good one that is evenly lit up BUT one of the LED's is projecting green instead of orange. Bottom part of screen was an odd mix of white and orange. Instead of green blotches, they were dark orange and orange blotches. Update: The one I bought had a very odd unevenness in natural light setting.
